The weekend was quite fun. Since we had to be out of the house for pretty much most of the day, my wife and I decided to drive out past Winston Salem to the Yadkin Valley Appellation and visit some North Carolina wineries. I got a friend at work to ditch preparing for UL on Saturday and come with us. He was not very hard to convince.

I was doing some Light Reading when I read that in France an 8 Mbit/s Internet connection can be had for €15. Add voice-over-IP service for just €9. While you are at it, tag on video-over-IP for €6 per month.

Slashdot ran a headline about neuroscience being used by marketers to figure out how to make advertisement work. I don't need neuroscience! I have conclusive and incontrovertible proof that Lifetime: Television for Women appeals to women on a very basic of levels.

Around ten o'clock they called us into a meeting room and told us to get what we need for the day and leave the premises ASAP. Don't linger in the parking lots. Just go, so that the poor sods who were getting laid off in the other building could come back to their cubes and collect their stuff in dignity. The network has been shut down, so don't try working from home, just take the rest of the day off.

The blood mobile was parked outside the office building yesterday, so I made an appointment. After filling out forms, reading about HIV and AIDS, getting my hemoglobin and blood pressure measured in the hall of the building they send me off to the camper parked on the side of the road where I find out that my blood is no longer good of the American.
